Dyslexia Together is a new group, determined to challenge
misconceptions and prejudice surrounding Specific Learning Difficulties.
Please
have a look at the footage on their petition page, where Jeremy Kyle
shows a clear lack of understanding of the symptoms of Dyslexia, and the
effects it can have when unsupported.

The more I watch the clip, the angrier it makes me.
The
main focus of the campaign is to right the misconceptions about
Dyslexia that Jeremy Kyle spouted in his aggressive, pseudo-intellectual
manner.
But it would also be good to see him apologise
for his behaviour, because it's about time we stopped accepting bullies
in our society, isn't it?
Listening to the audience
hollering and whooping as a presenter yells accusations in to the face
of a passive and bewildered 'guest' cannot surely be classed as valid
entertainment, can it?
I think 'Foxy Bingo', who
sponsor The Jeremy Kyle show, should carefully consider the public
support they give to such unpleasant programming.
We need to get things in perspective.
Jeremy Kyle is not medically qualified.
He's not an Education specialist.
He's not a trained counsellor.
He's a DJ with a camera.
Having the funds to access a DNA testing lab and a lie-detector machine does not a Scientist or a Psychologist make.
Is this really a programme that puts families back together?
I have spent time researching responses given by former 'guests' with regard to their 'After Care' provision.
It makes for a sad, yet somehow unexpected, read.
So,
man up, 'Jez' - let's see you right the wrongs of your own making,
before you go pontificating to those who have the misfortune to end up
as 'guests' on your show!
Refusing to accept illiteracy & discrimination as outcomes for people with learning differences. Demanding a fair & relevant education for all. FFYC is written by a parent who had to educate her own children because the English State School system failed them. Offering ideas on providing learning support for your own children. Focusing on SpLDs (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, Dysgraphia etc). Keeping an eye on Education news & issues. Advocating for children with SpLDs.

I couldn't have said it better!
Brilliant
Thank you, David :)
DeleteI knew so little about dyslexia until recently. I know that I am still a long way from being an expert, but the little that I have learned since I got involved with this campaign, has made me realise how important it is that the wider population in general and the media in particular has a better understanding of dyslexia. That is a very good reason for making sure that Jeremy Kyle's outrageous, cruel and ultimately ridiculous attack on a dyslexic man has to be challenged
